Specialist Assessor & Specialist Teacher

Hello, I’m Catherine Mingot, a fully qualified Specialist Assessor and Specialist Teacher with over 22 years of experience in education. I have worked with children and young people across a wide range of settings as a class teacher and more recently I have specialised in supporting those with specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) such as dyslexia.

I trained at the highly respected Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity, where I developed a deep understanding of the complexities of learning differences and the importance of clear, compassionate assessment. I am also committed to ongoing professional development (CPD) to ensure my practice reflects the latest research and best practice.

Professional Credentials

I currently hold:

• Level 7 Diploma in Teaching and Assessing Leaners with Dyslexia and other SpLDs

• Level 5 Diploma in Teaching Leaners with Dyslexia and other SpLDs

• BA(Hons) in Primary Education

• A current Assessment Practising Certificate (APC) and membership with PATOSS (Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties)

• An enhanced DBS certificate, allowing me to work safely with children and young people.

• Professional indemnity insurance, maintained and up to date.

• Registration with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) for data protection compliance

• Annual safeguarding training, ensuring best practice in child protection

My Approach

Having spent many years in the classroom, I understand the real world challenges faced by learners, parents, and teachers alike. My approach is warm, calm, and empathetic, focused on building trust and putting each individual at ease. Whether working with a child who is just beginning their learning journey or an adult seeking clarity and support later in life, I tailor every assessment to the person in front of me.

Location and Services

I am based in Surrey and offer face to face assessments in the surrounding areas. I also offer UK wide remote assessments for over 16s.
